Business
Eagle Materials Inc. manufactures and sells heavy construction products and light building materials primarily in the United States. The company operates through four segments: Cement, which includes the mining of limestone for the production, distribution, and sale of portland cement and portland limestone cement as well as the grinding and sale of slag; Concrete and Aggregates, encompassing the production and sale of readymix concrete along with the mining and sale of aggregates such as crushed stone, sand, and gravel; Gypsum Wallboard, involving the mining of gypsum for the manufacture and sale of gypsum wallboards used in finishing interior walls and ceilings of residential, commercial, and industrial structures; and Recycled Paperboard, which produces recycled paperboard sold to the gypsum wallboard industry and other paperboard converters. Eagle Materials serves commercial and residential construction, public infrastructure projects including roads and highways, repair and remodel activities, and energy applications such as hydraulic fracturing sand. Founded in 1963 as a subsidiary of Centex Corporation and renamed Eagle Materials Inc. in 2004 following a tax-free distribution to Centex shareholders, the company is headquartered in Dallas, Texas. It maintains extensive operations across the United States, including seven cement plants, one slag grinding facility, 17 cement distribution terminals, five gypsum wallboard plants, three frac sand wet processing facilities, three frac sand drying facilities, and six frac sand trans-load locations. In late 2024, Eagle Materials agreed to acquire Bullskin Stone & Lime, LLC for $152.5 million to expand its aggregates quarries, cement plants, and terminals network in Western Pennsylvania, with the transaction expected to close within 60 days subject to regulatory approvals. In May 2025, the company announced a $330 million investment to modernize and expand its gypsum wallboard operations, increasing capacity by 25 percent, reducing operating costs by nearly 20 percent, and leveraging nearby natural gypsum reserves. These initiatives support Eagle Materials' long-term growth strategy amid record fiscal 2025 revenues despite a slight year-over-year decline in the fourth quarter.
